GAUK Motors Property

Whether you’re interested in history or you have a love of classic, vintage and veteran motorcycles or art, becoming a Classic Friend of NZ Classic Motorcycles is your key to discovering a new world.
The Classic Friend volunteers are vital to the museum’s success and their support, enthusiasm and energy enables NZ Classic Motorcycles to flourish and grow. They work as a team, enjoy each other’s company and are enthusiastic about their role.
There is always plenty to do, experience and learn, no matter your interests and skills. Whether you can make a regular weekly commitment or prefer to help out every now and again, we welcome and value your involvement. A Classic Friend can help with a variety of jobs from greeting visitors to working on the presentation of certain bikes and many other important tasks. Training is provided for all new volunteers.
Becoming a Classic Friend provides you with opportunities such as attending in-house promotional events and you can bring non-members along or tell other people of upcoming events they may enjoy.
We invite you to support this special museum that contributes to our local community by becoming a Classic Friend. Be an integral part of NZ Classic Motorcycles, meet new people, and enjoy the events and privileges that form part of this group.

We offer a diverse mix of opportunities and roles for volunteers which draw on a range of skills and qualities. However, these roles can be grouped into four main types:

Volunteer guides – general floor staff, front of house, meet n’ greet and sale of merchandise
Assistance with events and special projects
Assistance with motorcycle and museum presentation
Other — tell us what you can bring to NZ Classic Motorcycles

Volunteer Guides
Our volunteer guides and general floor staff are our storytellers and hosts. They guide visitors around the showroom, sharing our stories and encouraging them to share their stories with us. It’s a role that requires direct contact with the public and suits people who are good talkers and listeners and, who feel comfortable and at ease with a wide range of people. You will meet and greet and welcome our visitors into the museum and assist with the sale of NZ Classic Motorcycle branded merchandise so it suits people who are good at sales and have some knowledge of how to use computers or cash registers. All volunteer guides will be taught how to use digital equipment used within the museum and will be required to show visitors how to use it too. Don’t be afraid to learn new technology, we will show you just how easy it is to use!

Assistance with Events & Special Projects
Event volunteers assist us with a wide range of duties for events and talks. The amount of time required and the type of help needed varies depending on the nature of each event. In this role you need to be flexible, enjoy working with a variety of people, and be ready to step in and help wherever needed.

Assistance with Motorcycle & Museum Presentation
Volunteering on these projects provides opportunities to assist our skilled staff and develop new skills in a diverse range of related areas.

Share with us the knowledge and skills you can bring to NZ Classic Motorcycles.
